Summary:

At Kothar, we work every day to democratize state of the art algorithms in the broad many body physics space. Kothar computing strives to be the scientific computing company of the future in the looming age of quantum computing. We are looking to build a multidisciplinary team across many specializations to solve a broad range of problems in the quantum ecosystem.

Description (what you’ll get to do here!):

• Drive the design and inclusion of symbolic computing into Kothar’s tools.
• Integrate state-of-the-art numerical techniques into our ecosystem.
• Help design the next generation of scientific computing software.
• Work with academic and industry partners on cutting edge problems. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong focus on symbolic computing, numerical computing, or theoretical computer science.
• 1+ years of experience in scientific software development with a focus on symbolic computation, numerical analysis or high performance computing.
• Strong proficiency in C++, with experience in parallel computing workflows like openmp, MPI, CUDA etc.
• Understanding of symbolic computation techniques.
• Strong mathematical foundation, particularly in linear algebra, calculus, and number theory.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with an ability to tackle complex theoretical and applied computing problems.

Nice to haves:

• Experience developing new approaches to solving (sparse and dense) linear algebra problems.
• Exposure to lazy evaluation and expression engines.
• Experience extending symbolic computing packages.
• Exposure to machine learning techniques.
• Exposure to tensor network approaches.
• Some exposure to any field using quantum mechanics (this is not necessary).
• Willingness to relocate to Montreal.
