












Description
The Department of Computer Science (CS) and Department of Mathematics (Math) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) are seeking a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor to focus primarily on cyber security and privacy in one of the Areas below. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2023.
- Area A: Cryptography, applied cryptography, and intersection of algorithm and cryptography, e.g. quantum cryptography, post-quantum crypto, etc. One faculty position is anticipated for this area.
- Area B: Cloud, Edge, and IoT security, e.g. serverless computing, container security, etc. System software, software supply chain security, and the security of Cyber Physical System, etc. Two faculty positions are anticipated for this area.
These positions will be expected to strengthen both the tenure home department (Math for area A and CS for area B), and the Cyber Security and Privacy Cluster, and may include a combination of joint appointments.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is expected to have a research impact with an upward trajectory as reflected in high-quality publications and the ability to build a well-funded research program. We are looking for a team player who can complement our existing strengths and efforts in cyber security and privacy and our educational effort in this domain.
For Area A, candidates having a track record of publishing in the following venues are preferred:
For Area B, candidates having a track record of publishing in the following venues are preferred: systems (OSDI, SOSP, ATC, FAST, and MobiSys), hardware systems (ISCA, HPCA, ASPLOS, MICRO), software and programming systems (ESEC/FSE, ICSE, PLDI, CGO, PPoPP, POPL), and/or security (SP, Security, CCS, NDSS).

Requirements
All applicants must have earned a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Mathematics (for Area A), Computer Science (for Area B), or closely related disciplines by the start of their appointment. The ideal candidate will be in the rank of Assistant Professor, but exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor will be considered. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the areas listed.
